FunTeam Alberta promotes family oriented, low cost, and less competitive sport to be enjoyed by participants of all skill levels. We are an inclusive organization that encourage any activity to be FUN for the participants, parents, coaches, volunteers and the rest of the community!
Welcome to Morinville Mavericks Hockey! Morinville Mavericks is affiliated with FunTeam Alberta, who promote family oriented, low cost, and less competitive sport to be enjoyed by participants of all skill levels. We are an inclusive organization that encourage any activity to be FUN for the participants, parents, coaches, volunteers and the rest of the community! Everyone plays and the amazing coaches will be working with all participants to improve their confidence and skill, and strive for everyone to learn how to work as a team player and build their love of the game.
Teams will receive 1 practice weekly, with games starting around the first week of November with other Fun Teams in the surrounding areas. The ice Scheduler will do their best to schedule 1 home game/1 away game per month usually no more than 45 minutes outside of Morinville.
The teams are grouped by age. The age ranges listed below are an approximation that depends on the number of participants in certain age groups.
- Beginners Ages 6-8
- Intermediate Ages 9-11
- Juniors Ages 12-14
- Seniors Ages 15+
What to Bring
Standard Hockey equipment required for all players is as follows:
- Hockey Stick
- Padded hockey gloves
- helmet with cage (HECC certified and not expired)
- neck guard
- shoulder and chest pads
- Elbow pads
- Athletic Jock (boys) or Jill (girls)
- Hockey pants
- Shin guards
- hockey socks
- skates
Jerseys will be provided upon receipt of volunteer deposit.
Fees
Important: $10 of the listed registration fee covers your FunTeam membership which is required to join a FunTeam group. Please submit all of your fees to your Group Manager in a timely fashion as it is required to complete the registration process.

June 1st to Aug. 31st: $270
September 1st onward: $290
Fees are by way of E-transfer to: morinvillemaverickshockey@gmail.com. Registration will not be processed until fees are received.
REFUNDS: Full refund minus $50 admin fee, up to 2 weeks prior to season start date. NO refunds after season start date.

Volunteering
FunTeam volunteers are our most valuable resource. We can’t thank you enough for your commitment to our programming and bringing our model of sport to your community.

Each family is asked to complete 3 hours of volunteer time in a season, as well as, 3 hours in our tournaments. Team managers will provide schedules for volunteers once each family has signed up for the various roles. A refundable volunteer deposit of $100 is due at start of season and will be returned upon completion of required hours. See below for a list of roles to choose from:
- coach/assistant coach
- game day music OR scoreboard
- help in dressing room for beginners/intermediates
- Team manager (can be a shared role)
- Team Liason (communicate between parents & coaches)
- Fundraising committee member
- Tournament committee member
- on-ice assistant (no coaching required)
- parade volunteer (town Christmas parade float)
- Maverick sponsorship committee
- Referee coordinator
