FunTeam Alberta promotes family oriented, low cost, and less competitive sport to be enjoyed by participants of all skill levels. We are an inclusive organization that encourage any activity to be FUN for the participants, parents, coaches, volunteers and the rest of the community!

Welcome Families!

Whether you are new to Fun Team or a returning family we are excited to participate in this season with you and your children. Fun Team is a unique opportunity for the community to come together to create a positive opportunity for our kids to participate in recreational soccer. We strive to build a network of families who are excited to volunteer their time as coaches, assistants, and team supports. We as parents will support our kids by teaching them skills, building their confidence, and reinforcing positive attitudes for soccer in a non-competitive environment. It is a rewarding experience to be a part of your child's activities, but it is even more wonderful to see how excited the kids feel when they have their parents on the field with them helping out.

What to Expect: parent volunteers will coach the children, encourage all members of the group, and help to ensure the equipment is accounted for each night. We follow a nightly routine of set up, warm ups, skills, and finish with a group scrimmage and equipment clean up. We expect inclusion and encouragement regardless of skill level and strive to create a positive experience for all families and children.

Season Information

Where: Willoughby Field #1

When: Tuesday’s May 3 to June 28 from 6 to 7pm 

Who: Children aged 4 to 11 (Determined by the child's age by the end of the year 2022)

Cost: $50 (Fun Team fee, jersey rental, equipment rental and field, year end wind up)

Max Spots: 120

*PLEASE NOTE: for children in the youngest age group, we will encourage at least ONE parent to participate WITH their child for the skill building portion of the evening. This is a volunteer based soccer program, and the youngest often need the most help. Having parent participation in this age group will allow the children to have one on one help to build their skills and will allow the volunteer coaches to be able to focus on facilitating the group.

Registration will open March 23 at 9am and close April 1 at 9am. You will receive a welcome email with more information once registration closes.

Thank you for your consideration in joining us this year.

Due to planning and time constraints, our season will not have regular make up games. If we are unable to play due to weather there will be no game night that week. However, if the season ends up being extremely rainy we will consider looking at additional makeup days subject to the availability of fields with the City of St. Albert.

We do not currently have any restrictions at this time. Due to the ever changing situation surrounding Covid 19, please be advised that this has the potential to change. There would be an expectation that families continue to monitor and comply with any restrictions.

What to Bring

Items Needed: running shoes or cleats (cleats are optional), shin pads and socks (optional but recommended), soccer ball, and water

Soccer balls are not provided therefore each participant is required to have a ball to practice with each evening. If you do not have a ball for your child you will need to purchase one prior to the start of the season. Please label your child's ball prior to night one.

Jerseys will be distributed in April prior to the start of our season. Jerseys are required to be returned at the year end wind up party in June. Our wind up party will take place on our regular scheduled night and time. More information to come.

Fees

Important: $10 of the listed registration fee covers your FunTeam membership which is required to join a FunTeam group. Please submit all of your fees to your Group Manager in a timely fashion as it is required to complete the registration process.

Volunteering

FunTeam volunteers are our most valuable resource. We can’t thank you enough for your commitment to our programming and bringing our model of sport to your community.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

***Volunteer Positions*** (These positions do not require previous experience or skills in soccer, we are here to try our best and have fun! Resources and support will be provided if needed) Please contact us directly ASAP to let us know if you are willing or able to volunteer.

-2 coaches needed per group minimum (approximately 14 coaches) : duties include facilitating the evenings for the children of your given group for the season (this includes warm ups, building skills, and organizing a recreational scrimmage within your group each Tuesday). We will provide coaches with resources to help in their position as well, we are here for support in as little or as much capacity as you may need. We are working together to model collaboration and teamwork for our kids!

EACH VOLUNTEER IS REQUIRED TO REGISTER AS A VOLUNTEER ON THE FUN TEAM WEBSITE AND COMPLETE A CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK (WITH VULNERABLE SECTOR CHECK) PRIOR TO THE SEASON START DATE **Fun Team will provide a letter stating it is for volunteering and the fee will be waived**

-all record checks are considered valid from July 2019 to current (a copy will need to be submitted)
