FunTeam Alberta promotes family oriented, low cost, and less competitive sport to be enjoyed by participants of all skill levels. We are an inclusive organization that encourage any activity to be FUN for the participants, parents, coaches, volunteers and the rest of the community!
Welcome to the Thorhild Fun Hockey group! We are excited to welcome you to our page and community. In keeping with Fun Team Alberta, our focus is on FUN in hockey. We welcome players of all ages and experiences, as well as volunteers. We encourage our players to have a love of team sport and enjoy working and playing with their peers. We focus on developing their individual skills, as well as their skills within their team. Our Little team enjoys at least one game per month, usually beginning in November, with our Middle and Big teams participating in about 2 games per month. We are extremely fortunate to host practices for all our teams on Friday nights, perfect for families with multiple players! Game schedules will be determined upon confirmation of player registration and availability of neighbouring teams.
Fundraising is typically minimal, with a BBQ and/or a tournament later in the season. We also participate in the Annual Thorhild Stampede Parade on July 1; we are always looking for participant's ideas, candy tossing abilities and smiles!
We welcome all volunteers who have completed a Vulnerable Sector check. Checks are required once every 3 years and must be provided to the Registrar one week prior to the first practice. Volunteer positions that we typically look to fill are coaches, team managers, referee coordinators (for the Middle and Big teams), jersey managers, year end party coordinators, and team picture coordinator(s).
At the end of the season, we host a parents versus kids game with our year end party, which our players are always enthusiastic about!

- Helmet with full cage

All coaches on the ice are required to wear a helmet and skates.
Fees
Important: $10 of the listed registration fee covers your FunTeam membership which is required to join a FunTeam group. Please submit all of your fees to your Group Manager in a timely fashion as it is required to complete the registration process.
Payment of $125 per player is due upon the first practice, tentatively set for October 21, 2022. The remaining $125 per player is due upon return to play from the Christmas break, tentatively set for January 6, 2023. We accept e-transfer, cash or cheque for payments. Cheques may be made payable to Thorhild Fun Hockey.

Volunteering
FunTeam volunteers are our most valuable resource. We can’t thank you enough for your commitment to our programming and bringing our model of sport to your community.
Volunteer positions that we typically look to fill are coaches, team managers, referee coordinators (for the Middle and Big teams), jersey managers, year end party coordinators, and team picture coordinator(s).
Each team will have a head coach, with, ideally, two assistant coaches. All coaches are required to provide a vulnerable sector check to the registrar.
Referee coordinators are responsible to book and pay referees for games played by our Middle and Big teams. Our Little team will have their games refereed with their coaches.
Team managers will attend the annual game scheduling meeting and provide the game schedule applicable to their team. They are responsible to ensure the team is able to attend, confirm which players will attend, which jerseys are required, and provide the game location for their team. They are responsible to reschedule or cancel any games based on weather conditions and/or illnesses.
Jersey managers will ensure that two jerseys (black and white) are distributed to each player and collect, wash and return any team sponsored/paid jerseys to Thorhild Fun Hockey at the end of the season.
The year end party coordinators will be responsible to book the year end party, coordinate food, beverage, cutlery and gifts.
The team picture coordinators will be responsible to coordinate their team's pictures, along with their coaches.
