FunTeam Alberta promotes family oriented, low cost, and less competitive sport to be enjoyed by participants of all skill levels. We are an inclusive organization that encourage any activity to be FUN for the participants, parents, coaches, volunteers and the rest of the community!
Welcome to Barrhead Fun Hockey! We are excited to welcome you to our page and community. In keeping with Fun Team Alberta principles and values, our focus is on FUN in hockey. We welcome players from 5-17 years old with none to lots of experience, as well as volunteers. We encourage our players to have a love of team sport and enjoy working and playing with their peers. We focus on developing their individual skills, as well as their skills within their team. There is usually 1 practice a week and 1 game on Saturday. Practices for all teams will be on Tuesdays between the times of 4-7pm starting in November. Games typically are within 1 hour drive of Barrhead.
There is no fundraising. Cost is $225 + $15 for a practice jersey (not required) this amount includes the $10 registration with FUNTEAM Alberta
We welcome all volunteers who have completed a Vulnerable Sector check. Checks are required once every 3 years and must be provided to the Registrar one week prior to the first practice. Volunteer positions that we typically look to fill are coaches and team managers.
We try to end the year with a trip to watch the Oil Kings play in Edmonton.

October Saturday's starting the 1st are practices:
8:30am-9:45am: 14-17 years old
10am-11:15am: 10-13 years old
11:30-12:45pm: 5-9 years old
REGISTRATION IS OPEN SEPTEMBER 15 until October 8th online only.
You can e-transfer barrheadfh@gmail.com or bring payment on Oct. 1st to the 1st practice.
There is a parent information meeting October 1 st in the Arena Lobby for 30 minutes or so at the start of each practice - so 8:30 am, 10 am, 11:30 am. This meeting is for any parents who would like to know more of the values/rules of Fun Team Alberta
What to Bring
Full Equipment is required:
The following is required for all players:
- Hockey Bag
- Water Bottle
- Jock
- Shin guards
- Socks
- Practice jersey
- Skates
- Skate guards
- Hockey pants
- Neck guard
- Elbow pads
- Shoulder pads
- Gloves
- Helmet with full cage
- Stick
All coaches on the ice are required to wear a helmet and skates.
Fees
Important: $10 of the listed registration fee covers your FunTeam membership which is required to join a FunTeam group. Please submit all of your fees to your Group Manager in a timely fashion as it is required to complete the registration process.
$225 - registration fee includes $10 for registration with FunTeam Alberta
$15 - practice jersey (not mandatory)

Volunteering
FunTeam volunteers are our most valuable resource. We can’t thank you enough for your commitment to our programming and bringing our model of sport to your community.
Volunteer willingness and enthusiasm to promote fun and good sportsmanship in our community is incredibly important to our young athletes. Volunteers are crucial in keeping costs down for our players.
Volunteer positions that we typically look to fill are:
- Coaches
- Team Managers
Each team will have a head coach, with, ideally, two assistant coaches. All coaches are required to provide a vulnerable sector check to the registrar.
Team managers will assist the coach with game jerseys and help coordinate refs for home games.
