FunTeam Alberta promotes family oriented, low cost, and less competitive sport to be enjoyed by participants of all skill levels. We are an inclusive organization that encourage any activity to be FUN for the participants, parents, coaches, volunteers and the rest of the community!

Located in Dickson, Alberta in the Diamond Jubilee Recreation Center (Dickson Arena).

Learn To Skate: A 30 minute non-parented class for children ages 3 and up who have not had any significant time on skates. It is designed to introduce children to the ice and help them become comfortable. This program teaches children the basics of how to get up when they fall down, how to move forward, basic backward movement and how to stop. Music, toys and games are used to help children feel ready to take the next step. 

Fun Skate: A 1 hour lesson designed for those children ages 5 and up who can work independently within a group lesson. A comprehensive series of balance, control and agility skills designed to prepare skaters for all ice sports requiring skates, as well as recreational skating.

Dance Skate: The level to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skills, free skate and artistic skating. 

Skating starts first Wednesday after Thanksgiving and goes though to the second week of March.

 

Learn To Skate #1: Monday & Wednesday - 4:00-4:30 pm : $200

Learn to Skate #2: Monday - 4:00-4:30 pm : $150

Fun Skate #1: Monday & Wednesday - 4:30-5:30 pm : $200

Fun Skate #2: Monday - 4:30-5:30 pm : $150

Dance Skate: Monday & Wednesday - 5:30-6:30 pm: $250

A themed carnival is held in March to showcase to the public what our skaters have learned at the end of the season. 

 

What to Bring

  • Skates (with laces recommended) 
  • CSA approved helmet required for all skaters up to Dance Skate. (No goalie helmets)
  • Snow Pants
  • Winter Jacket/Warm Jacket
  • Waterproof Mittens

Fees

Important: $10 of the listed registration fee covers your FunTeam membership which is required to join a FunTeam group. Please submit all of your fees to your Group Manager in a timely fashion as it is required to complete the registration process.

Fees cover ice time, coaching, participant insurance and are due first practice.

Please include names of participants in the comment for transfers. Etransfers are set to auto deposit. 

 

Non Sufficient Funds Cheques need to be cleared within 14 days. Contact President with any questions or concerns.

Refunds will be given at the discretion of the board.

Volunteering

FunTeam volunteers are our most valuable resource. We can’t thank you enough for your commitment to our programming and bringing our model of sport to your community.

  • $200/family Fundraising Requirement Bond. Please bring a post dated cheque for March 2023. The fundraising requirement post dated cheque will be required on the first day of skating. Once a member has fundraised for the Spruce View Skating Club then the post dated cheque will be returned to the member. Fundraising includes working our mandatory casino fundraiser (every three years with the next one slotted for 2025), 50/50 sales, bottle drives, Ag Society fundraisers, etc.

  • 8 Hour Volunteer Requirement/family. Hours can be reported to the secretary. Volunteering includes on ice volunteering, mandatory carnival production participation, bottle drives, Ag Society fundraisers, etc.

  • Spruce View & District Agriculture Society Membership Fees: $10/family optional membership fee. This optional membership fee gives you discounted ice rental price and more!
