FunTeam Alberta promotes family oriented, low cost, and less competitive sport to be enjoyed by participants of all skill levels. We are an inclusive organization that encourage any activity to be FUN for the participants, parents, coaches, volunteers and the rest of the community!

Welcome to Morinville Mavericks Hockey! Morinville Maericks is a member group with FunTeam Alberta, which promotes the family-oriented, low-cost, and less competitive sport to be enjoyed by participants of all skill levels.  We are an inclusive organization that encourages any activity to be FUN for the participants, parents, coaches, volunteers, and the rest of the community.  Everyone plays and the amazing coaches work with all participants to improve their confidence and skill level and strive for everyone to learn how to work as a team player while building the love for the game.  Teams will receive 1 practice weekly, with games beginning within a few weeks of the start date, with other Fun Teams in the surrounding areas.  The ice scheduler will do their best to schedule 1 home game and 1 away game per month, which are usually no more than 45 minutes outside of Morinville.

The teams are grouped by age and at times, skill level.  The age ranges listed below are an approximation that depends on the number of participants in certain age groups.

  • Beginners Ages 6-8 (born 2015-2017)
  • Intermediate Ages 9-11 (born 2012-2014)
  • Juniors Ages 12-16 (born 2007-2011)

 

What to Bring

All players must have the following items on the ice:

  • helmet with cage
  • neck guard
  • shoulder pads
  • elbow pads
  • gloves
  • hockey pants
  • shin pads
  • skates
  • jock/jill undershorts
  • stick

There will be an equipment swap in August/Sept that allows parents/guardians to give and get equipment.  There are also many affordable options for used equipment such as marketplace and Play it Again Sports store in St. Albert.

Fees

Important: $10 of the listed registration fee covers your FunTeam membership which is required to join a FunTeam group. Please submit all of your fees to your Group Manager in a timely fashion as it is required to complete the registration process.

Early Bird Registration cost (June-August 31) $270 

Regular Season Registration cost (Sept 1st-Dec 1) $295

***A $100 deposit required prior to the season starting. This deposit covers both jerseys loaned during the season to players, as well as to cover volunteering. Parents can forgo volunteering and donate the $100 deposit, otherwise if the jersey is returned and hours are completed, deposit is returned at the end of the season. Deposits are accepted via e-transfer or post-dated cheque. ***

Volunteering

FunTeam volunteers are our most valuable resource. We can’t thank you enough for your commitment to our programming and bringing our model of sport to your community.

It is all the amazing volunteers that make our organization a success.  There are so many roles to choose from and parents/guardians of each player can choose which is their best fit.  Below you will find a list of all volunteer roles to choose from.  All Parents/guardians of each player are required to complete 3 hours total within the season.  Each role will fulfill a different amount of time so you may need to choose a role multiple times.  There will also be a year-end tournament which will require various volunteer roles or a prize/donation to the tournament.  A volunteer deposit of $100 will be required at the beginning of the season and will be refunded at the end of the season for each parent/guardian that fulfilled the mandatory hours.  Please review the list below and choose the role(s) that interests you.  When the season begins, there will be a sign up sheet with dates that parents/guardians can fill in.
