Description
FunTeam Alberta promotes family oriented, low cost, and less competitive sport to be enjoyed by participants of all skill levels. We are an inclusive organization that encourage any activity to be FUN for the participants, parents, coaches, volunteers and the rest of the community!
Our season runs the 1st week of October - 2nd week of March.
Prior to the season starting, the board attends a booking meeting where they book the entire season in one evening. The players then receive their schedule in October and know what to expect all year.
All of the teams practice one night a week at the Winfield Arena. They play 2-3 games/month and attend one tournament.
We do not play Sundays (unless in a tournament) & try to avoid booking early morning games. We also try our best to avoid holidays/long weekends according to the Winfield school calendar.
There is no fundraising required. We do get sponsorships & grants to help toward extra costs.
The local teams we play are, Rimbey, Bentley, Ponoka, Rocky, & Blackfalds
Our age groups are
5-7
8-10
11-12
13-14
15-17 (18 if still in high school)
Our ice times this year are Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays.
We will have a Much better idea once registrations come in on how many teams we will have per age group and exactly which night they will fall on but as of right now,
Practice for the 11-12, 13-14 & 15-17 groups will fall on Tuesdays and the 5-7, 8-10, & possibly another 11-12 team will be on Thursdays.
Home games are Saturdays.
What to Bring
Standard Hockey equipment required for all players is as follows:
- Hockey Stick
- Padded hockey gloves
- Helmet with cage (HECC certified and not expired)
- Neck guard
- Shoulder and chest pads
- Elbow pads
- Athletic Jock (boys) or Jill (girls)
- Hockey pants
- Shin guards
- Hockey socks
- Hockey Skates
Jerseys & Socks will be provided once a deposit is received.
Fees
Important: $10 of the listed registration fee covers your FunTeam membership which is required to join a FunTeam group. Please submit all of your fees to your Group Manager in a timely fashion as it is required to complete the registration process.
If the registration fees are not doable for your family, please check out Kid Sport Canada online. Its a great program that sponsors a lot of kids to play hockey :)

5-7 ~ $175
8-10 ~ $220
11-12 ~ $260
13-14 ~ $285
15-17 ~ $295
There is also a $100 deposit required for Jerseys & Socks which you get back at the end of the season when they are returned in good condition. (You can use cash/cheque at our first practice night or add it to your e transfer)
Each player receives one individual & one group picture included in their registration fees.
Payment can be made via e transfer to winfieldrechockey@gmail.com **PLEASE use the password gametime for e transfers
If you e transfer and are paying for more than one child at a time, please indicate in the notes their names/age groups. There are so many families with different last names and generic emails which make it nearly impossible to match up.
If you need to pay with cash or cheque, this can be done on our first practice night.

Volunteering
FunTeam volunteers are our most valuable resource. We can’t thank you enough for your commitment to our programming and bringing our model of sport to your community.
Our program runs so smoothly thanks to the enormous amount of volunteers that step up throughout the season.
We ask that if you have a child registered, you volunteer once throughout the season. Small tasks like running the score clock at a game, or helping with setup/take down at our year end party go a long way.
