In keeping with Fun Team Alberta principles and values, our focus is on FUN in hockey. We welcome players from 5-17 years old, Co-Ed Recreational, Non-Contact Hockey, with none to lots of experience, as well as volunteers. We focus on developing their individual skills, as well as their skills within their team.
*All age groups –accept all skill levels weather you are new to hockey or excel, beginner skater or are advanced! All skill levels welcome!
**NOTE: You MUST LOG IN OR CREATE an account with FunTeam Alberta to be able to register your players!
There is 1 practice a week and 1 game on Saturday, times will vary. Possibility of Sunday games if no ice is available on Saturdays. No practices or games on Holidays. Practices will be
Monday 6:15pm-7:15pm Mini Moose ages 5-7
Wednesday 6:15pm-7:15pm Penguins ages 8-10
Wednesday 7:30-8:30 JR 1 Phantoms ages 11-14
Fridays 5pm-6pm Mighty Ducks ages 8-10
Fridays 6:15pm-7:15pm JR 2 Phantom
Monday 6:15pm-7:15pm-SR Phantom at the Mayerthorpe Arena until end of October 7 then moving to Sangudo Arena Oct 21 (waiting for ice confirmation) Mondays 6:30pm-8pm.
Our home ice for games is usually at the Sangudo Arena. We try to book games within 1 hour drive of Mayerthorpe/Sangudo.
There are some fundraising; this helps keep the cost down for fees, ice rental, referring, some equipment, Team Snap, tournaments and jersey replacements.
We welcome all Coaches/Team Managers who have completed a Vulnerable Sector check. Checks are required once every 3 years and must be provided to the Liaison one week prior to the first practice.
*All coaches on the ice are required to wear a helmet and skates, must have current Vulnerable Sector check (every 3 years).
Practices will start October 2, 2024 for some teams. Games will start November 2, 2024. Pending ice availability.
Mayerthorpe Fun Hockey will pay for one tournament (one day); more tournaments will be covered by the parents or by a sponsor

Fees
Important: $10 of the listed registration fee covers your FunTeam membership which is required to join a FunTeam group. Please submit all of your fees to your Group Manager in a timely fashion as it is required to complete the registration process.

- Ages 5-10 - $225 + $10 Fun Team Fee -
- Ages 11-14 - $250 + $10 Fun Team Fee
- Ages 15-17 - $325 + $10 Fun Team Fee

Position Descriptions
/ Responsibilities
Volunteers
Liaison – Lead the meetings, main contact with Fun Team Office (FTO), provide
information from Fun Hockey Alberta. Call board meetings (usually 2 per hockey
season). Finalize decisions. Recruit volunteers. Promote Fun Team messaging and
values to the different demographics within the community – volunteers,
coaches, parents, etc. Provide orientation for new volunteers. -Vacant
Treasurer – Bookkeeping/manage
money. Work closely with event planner. Assist Registration, Ice Booking,
fundraisers, Team Snap, MFH Jerseys & socks regarding funds. Pay for
tournaments and refs. - FILLED for 2024/2025 season
Game Schedulers – Attend scheduler meeting with all Fun Hockey Teams in our assigned area. Set up and confirm practice dates and times with Mayerthorpe/Sangudo Arena. Confirm ice availability with Sangudo for game days at beginning of season and monthly. Make the game schedule. Liaison between other areas and manager as needed. Contact Sangudo rink manager or Mayerthorpe rink if games and/or practices are cancelled. Ages 5-11 , Ages 11-17 - both FILLED
NOTE: If no one
signs up to be scheduler then Team Managers will decide which
2 managers will go to the scheduling day for games.
Ref contact / Liaison – Make a list of all Referees available, phone numbers, email addresses
and age group wanting to ref. Make a spread sheet and email out to managers and
post in Team Snap Ref group. Update ref list as it changes and email out to
managers. Reach out to JR Phantoms and SR Phantoms if they would like to Ref.
Post Ref clinics in Team Snap and on MFH Facebook Page. (Possibly set up
in Team Snap schedule) - FILLED
Team Snap- Work
closely with scheduler and managers. Input all team members, next of kin and
coaches for each team. Train Team managers in how to input games and use Team
snap. Add, move, and delete.
Hockey Registration – Work closely with Treasurer. August 15 to
September 15 hockey registration. Create registration for families to register
online for MFH. Complete registration requirements annually and send to FTO.
Create and assign players to Teams according to Fun Hockey League Rules. Assign
players to teams by age group and preferred night if option available. (Ex: JR.
Phantoms currently have 2 nights (Monday & Fridays). All teams will be made
by September 25 and emailed out. Email copy of teams and rosters to the Liaison,
scheduler, coaches, and team managers. Email a volunteer signup sheet to
parent/guardian provided with registration for players.- FILLED for
2024/2025 season
Fundraising Organizer - Choose with approval of the Liaison and Treasure which fundraisers and
how many to do. Contact, set up, communicate with parents before and during
fundraiser. Organize collection of money, pick up location date and times. Will
see all fundraisers from start to finish. FILLED for
2024/2025 season
Book Photography - Choose with approval of the Liaison and
Treasure which photographer for individual and team photos. Contact, set up,
communicate with parents before and during. Organize collection of money, pick
up location date and times. Will see this from start to finish. Photos to be
taken before the end of October to ensure they arrive before Christmas. -FILLED for
2024/2025 season
MFH Merch/Jersey &
Socks - Work with all teams if jerseys need to be replaced.
(Can reach out for sponsors). Place orders, organize pick-up and payments as
needed. In charge of hockey jersey numbers assigned to players. Maintain the
log for Junior Phantoms and Senior Phantoms to make sure there are no
duplicates and remove players that have left.
Social
Media/Information – Update and maintain MFH Facebook page, website,
posters, and advertising for MFH and fundraising. Approve posts on MFH Facebook
page. FILLED for 2024/2025 season
Coach – Run practice. Decide if the game is cancelled with the assistance of the Team Manager. Decide on awards and how they will be voted on. Be a role model for the players. Lead by example. Attend meetings as requested. Follow Code of Conduct.

Manager/Assistant Manager –
- Communicate all necessary information to parents.
- Enter all games and practices into Team Chat. Update Team Snap as needed.
- Make a schedule for parents to run the home clock in Sangudo. (Suggest parents that are not already volunteering)
- Book 1-2 refs for all home games in Sangudo (1 ref for under ages 10, prefer 2 refs for ages 11 and up, but can use just 1 ref) for all levels.
- Confirm games with other managers from other teams.
- Attend meetings as requested.
- Update/maintain team rosters and send a copy to the scheduler, Liaison, hockey registration and coaches.
- Inform team, coach, scheduler, ice booking person if game is cancelled. If a game is cancelled, you may reach out to other team managers from other teams to reschedule the game but do not have to reschedule games. Must update the scheduler of any game changes.
- Organize a team Christmas party & year end wrap up party if want to have one. May be asked to plan own team year-end gathering. If money is required, you may find a sponsor and recommend potluck for food.
- If there is no scheduler Team Manager will need to go to scheduling meeting or decide 2 Team Managers to go on behalf of all the teams.
NOTES:
If you have signed up to be a Board Member or a Volunteer and need to step down before the end of the season you will need to email or write a letter to the Liaison and Group Manager and you will need to find a replacement.
We are always in need of Referees! You will be paid and must have knowledge of hockey rules. Must have:
- ref jersey
- whistle
- black pants
- helmet
- skates. (No course required.
