Welcome to Westlock Fun Hockey! We are excited to welcome you to our page and community. In keeping with Fun Team Alberta principles and values, our focus is on FUN in hockey. We welcome players from 5-17 years old with none to lots of experience, as well as volunteers. We encourage our players to have a love of team sport and enjoy working and playing with their peers. We focus on developing their individual skills, as well as their skills within their team. There is usually 1 practice a week and 1 game on Saturday. Practices for all teams will be on Tuesdays between the times of 5-8:15 pm starting October 8 2024. Games typically are within 1 hour drive of Westlock. 

There is no fundraising. Cost covers the 10 registration with FUNTEAM Alberta

We welcome all volunteers who have completed a Vulnerable Sector check. Checks are required once every 4 years and must be provided to the Registrar one week prior to the first practice. Volunteer positions that we typically look to fill are coaches and team managers.

October  8 is first practice Saturday's practices for October 18 starting 8 am

 Tuesdays 6-7 pm 8-10 yrs   MIDDLE JR

Tuesdays 7:15-8:15 11-13 yrs  MIDDLE SR

What to Bring

The following is required for all players:

  1. Hockey Bag
  2. Water Bottle
  3. Jock
  4. Shin guards
  5. Socks
  6. Practice jersey
  7. Skates
  8. Skate guards
  9. Hockey pants
  10. Neck guard
  11. Elbow pads
  12. Shoulder pads
  13. Gloves
  14. Helmet with full cage 
  15. Stick

All coaches on the ice are required to wear a helmet and skates.

Fees

Important: $10 of the listed registration fee covers your FunTeam membership which is required to join a FunTeam group. Please submit all of your fees to your Group Manager in a timely fashion as it is required to complete the registration process.

Volunteering

Volunteer willingness and enthusiasm to promote fun and good sportsmanship in our community is incredibly important to our young athletes. Volunteers are crucial in keeping costs down for our players.

Volunteer positions that we typically look to fill are:

  • Coaches
  • Team Managers
  • Assist Coach

Each team will have a head coach, with, ideally, two assistant coaches. All coaches are required to provide a vulnerable sector check to the registrar. 

Team managers will assist the coach with game jerseys and help coordinate refs for home games
