Description

FunTeam Alberta promotes family oriented, low cost, and less competitive sport to be enjoyed by participants of all skill levels. We are an inclusive organization that encourage any activity to be FUN for the participants, parents, coaches, volunteers and the rest of the community!

Registration opened Sunday, March 30 at 10am. Our teams are now full. If you wish to be wait-listed please email krfunteam@gmail.com with your child's name and birth year.


Welcome families! 

Whether you are new to FunTeam or a returning family we are excited to participate in this season with you and your children. FunTeam is a unique opportunity for the community to come together to create a positive opportunity for our kids to participate in recreational soccer.


What to Expect: parent volunteers will coach the children, encourage all members of the group, and help to ensure the equipment is accounted for each night. We follow a nightly routine of set up, warm ups, skills, and finish with a group scrimmage and equipment clean up. We expect inclusion and encouragement regardless of skill level in this non-competitive program and strive to create a positive experience for all families and children.


Season Information

Where: Willoughby Field #1

When: Tuesday’s May 6 to June 24 from 6pm to 7pm

*Due to planning and time constraints, our season will not have regular make up games. If we are unable to play due to weather there will be no game night that week. 

Who: Children aged 4 to 10 (Determined by the child’s age by the end of 2025). Birth years 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015

Cost: $35

Max Spots: 105

*There will be 7 groups and each group will be capped at 15 participants. We will accept wait-list names and try to accommodate as best as possible.

PLEASE NOTE: for children in the youngest age group (4 years), we will need at least ONE parent to participate WITH their child for the skill building portion of the evening. This will allow the children to have one on one help to build their skills and will allow the volunteer coaches to be able to focus on facilitating the group. The youngest group will focus on 45 minutes of skill building and the last 15 minutes being free play.

Jersey Pick Up Night and Coaches Orientation: Tuesday, April 29 5:30pm-7:30pm at Willoughby Clubhouse (near tennis courts).

Wrap Up Party: Tuesday, June 24 6pm-7pm (final night of play). All jerseys must be returned following the wrap up party.

You will receive a welcome email with more information once registration closes.


What to Bring

Equipment:

- Running shoes or cleats (cleats are optional)

- Shin pads and socks (optional but recommended)

- Soccer ball

- Water bottle (labeled with child's name)


Soccer balls are not provided therefore each participant is required to have a ball to practice with each evening. If you do not have a ball for your child you will need to purchase one prior to the start of the season. Please label your child's ball prior to night one. Jerseys will be distributed a week prior to the start of our season.

Jersey Pick Up - Tuesday, April 29 from 5:30pm-7:30pm at Willoughby Clubhouse. Jerseys will be returned at our wrap up celebration on the final night of play (Tuesday, June 24).

Fees

Important: $10 of the listed registration fee covers your FunTeam membership which is required to join a FunTeam group. Please submit all of your fees to your Group Manager in a timely fashion as it is required to complete the registration process.

Fees: $35 per participant

This includes FunTeam fee ($10*), jersey rental, equipment rental, field cost, and year end wind up.

Volunteering

FunTeam volunteers are our most valuable resource. We can’t thank you enough for your commitment to our programming and bringing our model of sport to your community.

2 Coaches required for each group (approximately 14 volunteers total)

Duties:

  • facilitating the evenings for your given group including set up and take down of equipment, warm ups, building skills, and organizing a recreational scrimmage
  • keeping equipment in your care after each night of play

Coaches Orientation will happen on jersey pick up night: Tuesday, April 29 from 5:30pm-7:30pm at Willoughby Clubhouse (near tennis courts).

EACH VOLUNTEER IS REQUIRED TO REGISTER AS A VOLUNTEER ON THE FUNTEAM WEBSITE AND COMPLETE A CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK (WITH VULNERABLE SECTOR CHECK) PRIOR TO THE SEASON START DATE (May 6, 2025) **FunTeam will provide a letter stating it is for volunteering and the fee will be waived**

All record checks are considered valid from July 2022 to current (a copy will need to be submitted)
