FunTeam Alberta is all about making hockey enjoyable, inclusive, and accessible. We focus on family-friendly, affordable, and less competitive programming that welcomes participants of all skill levels. Our goal is to create a positive experience not just for the kids, but also for parents, coaches, volunteers, and the wider community.
Teams are formed by age once we have a clear idea of registration numbers. All registration will take place online. While your registration covers the season, optional tournaments may be available for your child’s age group and are an additional cost. To celebrate the season, we’ll be hosting a fun year-end party for all participants (usually a fun game vs family)!
Games will be arranged with other towns in advance. Once teams are finalized, each group will decide together which scheduled games to keep based on what works best for your team—especially when it comes to travel.
Our program depends on community support. Volunteers are essential to keep things running smoothly, and we are currently looking for coaches, assistant coaches, team managers, referees, and more. If you’re able to help, we’d love to have you involved!
Ice times are typically held on Saturdays, starting with the youngest groups and moving up by age. We have the opportunity to pick up other "home games" using neighboring rinks., ie playing in Morrin, Big Valley, Botha. This can be arranged with your Group Manager during the season.
Open to kids aged 7-19.
Have an eager player and you just want them to get used to full ice? Have your child come out and skate! We’ve had kids start as early as 5/6 yrs old on the junior team and have EXCELLED throughout the season. It’s NEVER TOO EARLY.

What to Bring
Standard Hockey equipment required for all players is as follows:
- Hockey helmet with cage
- Hockey Stick
- Padded hockey gloves
- Neck guard
- Shoulder pads
- Elbow pads
- Athletic Jock (boys) or Jill (girls)
- Hockey pants
- Shin guards
- Hockey socks
- Practice Jersey of your own
- Game Jerseys are provided and will be handed out by team manager
- Hockey Skates
- Water bottle
GearUp Kids in Stettler is a foundation that takes in donated and refurbished equipment. It gets cleaned, organized and handled by community volunteers and housed in their building, waiting to be picked up and utilized once again. Do you need assistance buying equipment?? Contact GearUp Kids for help!
*Once on the page, click the Get Equipment link. Fill out the form and a community volunteer will contact you once your form is filled out and make arrangements to pick up gear from their office. It's discreet, easy, simple, AWESOME!!
Fees
Important: $10 of the listed registration fee covers your FunTeam membership which is required to join a FunTeam group. Please submit all of your fees to your Group Manager in a timely fashion as it is required to complete the registration process.

NEW THIS YEAR- Jersey's will be an added fee. $15/player. You get to keep the jersey when the season is over!
Fees will be $315. $290 for registration, $10 for FunTeam membership, and $15 for jersey's.) Refunds will not be available after December 31, 2025.
Payments via Cash, Cheque, Etransfer will be handled by the Team Manager, then processed by the Treasurer.
Pay per skate can also be arranged. $15/practice and/or game. You will have to register your child, ($10 for FunTeam fee) and payments can be arranged with your Team Manager for weekly, bi-weekly, monthly payments.
If your child is interested in playing hockey but you worry about the cost, PLEASE!! look into utilizing these available resources. There are two local community foundations that help (with partial or full payment plans) for registration fees, buying equipment cost effective for you and give the ability for your child to play (payment is handled from the organization's representative and handled discreetly).

Volunteering
FunTeam volunteers are our most valuable resource. We can’t thank you enough for your commitment to our programming and bringing our model of sport to your community.
We are looking for:
A new treasurer for the upcoming 2025-2026 season. Our current treasurer is stepping down, so we need someone to fill the position.
Junior coach that can dedicate and commit to practices and games. We do have volunteers willing to help out part time, but you are in desperate need of a full time coach.
Intermediate coach again, that can dedicate him/herself to full time. One practice, one game, that’s all. 2.5 hrs a week for your time.
We need these positions filled! Not for the group-but for the children that want to be out on the ice and are excited to be out there. The passion they radiate for the game-we need volunteers that can match the passion. Without our coaches-we do not have a team. And our kids suffer the loss of not playing the season.
Social Media Manager Let’s start an insta page! Get our group out there, recognized. Let’s make a social media presence! Kids have some skills? Insta it. Kids have some new moves? Insta! Kids want to follow the new insta trend?… Insta! We need an Instagram Manager.
