Welcome to Mayerthorpe Fun Hockey!
At Mayerthorpe Fun Hockey, we believe in FUN above all else! Whether you're new to hockey or an experienced player, our goal is to foster skill development in a recreational, non-contact environment where everyone can enjoy the game!
Who Can Join?
We welcome players ages 5-17 (Co-Ed, Recreational, Non-Contact Hockey). Experience level doesn’t matter — whether you’ve never skated before or are looking to build your skills further, there’s a place for you! We also welcome volunteers to help make the season unforgettable.

- Deadline: October 30 or until teams are full. If age group is not showing, then the team is now full. Can join waitlist. Sangudo also has Fun Hockey* Practice Schedule at the Mayerthorpe Arena:
- Monday: 6:15pm-7:15pm – Ages 5-8 (Littles) - Team is Full - Sangudo also offers Fun hockey
- Wednesday: 6:15pm-7:15 - Ages 9-11 (Middle Junior), 2 teams for this age group
- Wednesday: 7:30pm-8:30pm – Ages 15-17 (Big)
- Friday: 5pm-6pm – Ages 9-11 (Middle Junior), 2 teams for this age group
- Friday: 6:15pm-7:15pm – Ages 12-14 (Middle Senior)-Team is full-Sangudo also offers Fun hockey
Games are typically at the Sangudo Arena, but some home games may be played at the Mayerthorpe Arena depending on ice availability. Game times will vary between 8am-6pm. We try to keep travel within an hour’s drive of Mayerthorpe/Sangudo.
Special Notes:
- Practices: No sessions on Oct 13, Dec 20-Jan 1, and Feb 16.
- Cancellations: Bad weather may cancel games, and due to limited ice time, rescheduling may not be possible.
- Volunteer Info: Coaches/Team Managers need a Vulnerable Sector Check, and must wear a helmet and skates when on the ice. Please email Mayerthorpefunhockey@hotmail.com to be a volunteer or coach.
- Tournament Fees: Mayerthorpe Fun Hockey will cover the cost of one tournament per team. Any additional tournaments will be covered by parents or sponsors.
- Age Group Assignments: Age groups are assigned for the safety of players. Players may request to move up but may not move down in age group for safety reasons. Registration age limit is 17, if turn 18 during hockey season can finish the season.
- Jersey Info: You’ll need to take your jersey to Stitchin Time in Whitecourt to have your last name and assigned number added. Your first jersey is included in the registration fee — this is a one-time inclusion. If a player's jersey needs to be replaced for any reason, the player will be responsible for covering the replacement cost.

- Hockey bag, water bottle, jock, shin guards, socks, practice jersey, sharpened skates, skate guards, hockey pants, neck guard, elbow pads, shoulder pads, gloves, helmet with full cage, and hockey stick. Goalie Equipment is provided or goalie can bring there own if preferred.**Please label all your personal equipment**

Important: $10 of the listed registration fee covers your FunTeam membership which is required to join a FunTeam group. Please submit all of your fees to your Group Manager in a timely fashion as it is required to complete the registration process.
