FunTeam Alberta promotes family oriented, low cost, and less competitive sport to be enjoyed by participants of all skill levels. We are an inclusive organization that encourage any activity to be FUN for the participants, parents, coaches, volunteers and the rest of the community!

Welcome to Thorhild Fun Hockey!

In line with FunTeam Alberta’s values. We welcome players aged 5–17, from beginners to experienced skaters, as well as volunteers.

Our goal is to help players:

  • Develop a love for team sports

  • Build friendships and teamwork skills

  • Grow both individual and team abilities

Season Schedule

  • Duration: Mid-October to March

  • Practices:

    • Fridays, 5:15 pm – 8:15 pm (Beginner's, Juniors and Intermediate's)

    • Games:

    • 1 home game (first Saturday of each month) with the exception of January which will be the second Saturday

    • 1 away game (monthly)

Registration Details

  • Cost: $290 (includes $10 FunTeam Alberta membership)

  • Jersey: Each player receives a plain red game jersey

    • Option to add name and number (extra cost)

Age Groups:

  • Beginners: Ages 5–8

  • Junior: Ages 9–11

  • Intermediate: Ages 12–14

  • Seniors: Ages 15–17 (If enough participants register, the group will be created)

What to Bring

What to Bring

All players are required to have the following equipment each time they come to hockey:

Gear Bag Essentials:

  • Hockey bag

  • Water bottle

Protective Equipment:

  • Jock/Jill

  • Shin guards

  • Hockey socks

  • Hockey pants

  • Neck guard

  • Elbow pads

  • Shoulder pads

  • Gloves

  • Helmet with full cage

On-Ice Equipment:

  • Skates

  • Skate guards

  • Stick

  • Practice jersey

    Coach Safety Requirement

    For the safety of everyone on the ice, all coaches are required to wear a helmet and skates during practices and games.

Fees

Important: $10 of the listed registration fee covers your FunTeam membership which is required to join a FunTeam group. Please submit all of your fees to your Group Manager in a timely fashion as it is required to complete the registration process.

Fees: $290 per player (this includes the $10 FunTeam Alberta registration fee).


Jerseys:
Each new player will receive a plain FunTeam red jersey.
Families will have the option to add a name and number through H2H Designs at an additional cost.

Volunteers are the most valuable part of FunTeam. We are deeply grateful for your commitment to our program and for bringing the spirit of fun, teamwork, and community sport to life.

Your willingness and enthusiasm to promote enjoyment and good sportsmanship make a lasting impact on our young athletes—both now and in the years ahead. Volunteers also play a key role in keeping costs affordable for families.

Coaching & Team Roles

  • Head Coach & Assistant Coaches

    • Each team will have one head coach and ideally two assistant coaches.

    • All coaches are required to submit a Vulnerable Sector Check to the registrar before being allowed on the ice.

  • Team Manager

    • Ensures games are confirmed and organized

    • Helps coordinate referees and time clock for all home games 

    • Assists along with the head coach and executive members if any issues should arise

Juniors
AGES 9-11 yrs old Safety is our first priority. All youth on the ice must be in full gear, including neck guards at all times. Practices will be held every Friday from 6:15 -7:15 p.m.
