Onoway FunTeam Skating Fall/Winter 2025 Session Info Only

Onoway Arena - 5004 53 Ave, Onoway, AB T0E 1V0

Description

FunTeam Alberta promotes family oriented, low cost, and less competitive sport to be enjoyed by participants of all skill levels. We are an inclusive organization that encourage any activity to be FUN for the participants, parents, coaches, volunteers and the rest of the community!

We are a skating club local to Onoway with an extensive history of Learn to Skate, Learn to Play and Power Skating programs.

Our Fall/Winter 2025 session will run from Sep 30, 2025 to Dec 19, 2025.

We run lessons on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, with 2 lessons of each group a week. You are welcome to register for one or both. Your registration will have an additional 10$ one time yearly membership fee which we pay to FunTeam Alberta.  Parents are welcome on the ice as On-Ice volunteers. Hockey helmets and skates are mandatory for all parent volunteers.

Fundraising is crucial to our club to support our programming as fees only cover a small portion of the club expenses. We will have a mid-session fundraiser as well as a session end party. There are also various volunteer positions available to sign up for at registration. At least one volunteer position is required per family.

We have the following groups:

  • Learn to Skate - Beginner: This is an introductory level for children looking to learn to skate or build on existing skill. It teaches the foundation for skating and builds on skating skills as the child gains confidence on the ice. The ideal age for this group is 2 to 4 years old.  Lessons are 45 minutes long and run Wednesdays at 4:45pm or Thursdays at 5pm.  Cost: 160$ per skater.

  • Learn to Skate: This is an introductory/intermediate level for children looking to build on their skill. Ideal age is 4 and up. Lessons are Tuesdays at 5pm or Wednesdays at 5:30pm.  Cost: 170$ per skater.

  • Learn to Play: - This is a transitionary level for skaters looking to eventually continue into hockey. This level is ideal for ages 4 to 7.  Lessons are Tuesdays at 5pm or Wednesdays at 5:30pm. Cost: 170$ per skater.

  • Jr. Powerskating (ages 5 & up) - This is a program designed for young hockey/ringette players looking to improve their skills and speed who are just getting into power skating. Lessons are Wednesdays at 6:30pm or Thursdays at 6pm. Cost: 180$ per skater.

  • Sr. Powerskating (ages 7 & up) - this level is for hockey/ringette players who have already completed 1 to 2 years of Power Skating and are looking to improve their skills. Lessons are Tuesdays at 6pm or Thursdays at 6pm. Cost: 190$ per skater.

  • FunSkate - this group is designed for anyone interested in simply skating and learning some new skating skills. Open to anyone over the age of 7 who is not interested in competitive skating or hockey, but rather looking to get on the ice to learn more skating skills or is an older child/adult looking to learn to skate. Lessons run on Wednesdays from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.
