FunTeam Alberta promotes family oriented, low cost, and less competitive sport to be enjoyed by participants of all skill levels. We are an inclusive organization that encourage any activity to be FUN for the participants, parents, coaches, volunteers and the rest of the community!
Please read all the information carefully ~ there are specific requirements & following these steps accordingly will help expedite the process and make for smooth registrations.

- Our season runs the 1st week of October - 2nd week of March.
- Prior to the season starting, the board attends a booking meeting where they book the entire season in one evening. The players then receive their schedule in October and know what to expect for the whole season. Sometimes games get cancelled due to bad weather and if that is the case the managers will often try and find a replacement game somewhere in the season.
- Each team practices one night a week at the Winfield Arena. They play 2-3 games/month and attend one or two tournaments. The tournaments are an extra cost of $20/player.
- We do not play Sundays (unless in a tournament) & try to avoid booking early morning games.
- There is no fundraising required. We do get sponsorships & grants to help with any extra costs.
- The local teams we play against & travel to are, Rimbey, Bentley, Ponoka, Rocky, Blackfalds, & Alix. This season we hope to branch out a bit and play some teams in Stony Plain and others in that direction :)
Our age groups are
5-7
8-11
12-14
15-17 (18 if still in high school)
**If your child ages up before Dec 31st and you would like them to move up, please email Lor at winfieldrechockey@gmail.com - please put "Registration" in the subject and provide your child's Full Name and information. If we do not hear from you we will keep the participant in the age group they were placed in at the date of registration. This cannot be changed later on so please do this ASAP. Thank you
- Our ice times this season are Tuesdays, Thursdays some Friday Nights & Saturdays.
As registrations come in, we will place players on teams according to their age and let everyone know which night they will fall on & what time their practice will take place. - Practices are Tuesday/Thursday - Home games are Friday Nights & Saturdays. In order to accommodate our growing league we may occasionally have some Sunday Afternoon games as well.
- PARENTS PLEASE NOTE: Our managers and coaches put a ton of volunteer time into your kiddos - in order to make this a successful season you will be required to volunteer once throughout the year. Please be diligent with this. Your team manager will give further instruction.
What to Bring
Standard Hockey equipment required for all players is as follows:
- Hockey Stick
- Padded hockey gloves
- Helmet with cage (HECC certified and not expired)
- Neck guard
- Shoulder and chest pads
- Elbow pads
- Athletic Jock (boys) or Jill (girls)
- Hockey pants
- Shin guards
- Hockey Skates
** Jerseys & Socks will be provided ~ once a deposit is received.
Fees
Important: $10 of the listed registration fee covers your FunTeam membership which is required to join a FunTeam group. Please submit all of your fees to your Group Manager in a timely fashion as it is required to complete the registration process.
If the registration fees are not doable for your family, please check out Kid Sport Canada online or JumpStart. They are great programs that sponsor a lot of kids to play hockey :)

- There is also a $100 deposit required for Jerseys & Socks. If they are returned in good condition, at the end of the season, your deposit will be returned to you. (You can use cash/cheque at our first practice night or add it to your e transfer*)
- Each player receives one individual & one group picture included in their registration fees.
- Payment can be made via e transfer to winfieldrechockey@gmail.com cash or cheque, or sponsorship. **BEFORE PAYMENT PLEASE follow the instructions below:
IMPORTANT**
Please wait to send payment until we announce the go ahead ~ You will receive an email stating which team your child is on - This is your confirmation to go ahead and send the funds accordingly.
If you e-transfer your registration fees, please indicate in the notes your children's First & Last Names & their Age group.
**If you are adding your jersey deposit to your e-transfer, you must indicate that in the notes as well.
Paying with cash or cheque can be done on our first practice night. Please email winfieldrechockey@gmail.com to let Cheryl know that is how you will be paying.
If you are applying for sponsorship, Please email winfieldrechockey@gmail.com - Let Cheryl know who you are and the names of your children in which you have applied for.
The $10 FunTeam fee is Already included in your registration fees - you do not need to add it or pay it here.

Volunteering
FunTeam volunteers are our most valuable resource. We can’t thank you enough for your commitment to our programming and bringing our model of sport to your community.
Volunteering is the heart of our program and we couldn't run without all of our fabulous volunteers & every family stepping up to help in small ways.
We have lots of opportunities to give back to the program, like running the score clock at a game, or helping with setup/take down at our year end party.
As our season begins, your team manager will have a list of ways you can sign up to help :) We appreciate you all so much!
