FunTeam Alberta promotes family oriented, low cost, and less competitive sport to be enjoyed by participants of all skill levels. We are an inclusive organization that encourage any activity to be FUN for the participants, parents, coaches, volunteers and the rest of the community!

Details:

  1. Each team practices once per week,
  2. We have 1 home game per month (away games depend on how many the coach books, usually 1 or 2 per month)
  3. The beginner age group doesn't start home games until January.
  4. We believe it is good for kids to be active in sports, but that family life comes first. Birthday parties, holidays, and family get-togethers are more important than being in the arena playing hockey.  Yes, we want the kids to show commitment to their team but there are times when family events come before hockey.
  5. We don't practice on holidays and take a break during Christmas.

We have 4 age groups:

  1. Beginner 4- 7 yr old
  2. Junior 8 - 10 yr old
  3. Intermediate 11-14 yr old
  4. Senior is 15 - 18 yr old.

We usually host 2 tournaments, one for the Junior group and one for the Intermediate group. These are for fun!

  1. No playoffs.
  2. Each team usually gets 3 games on the weekend, and we need all parents to help make it work. Last season we had a wonderful tournament coordinator, with the help of parents, made my job so much easier. Thanks, Kim! I appreciated all your hard work.
  3. Our home teams don't pay to play in the home tournaments, but we ask parents to volunteer to help and possibly find donations for the silent auction table.

We are always in need of volunteers for coaching, managers, and someone to wash the team jerseys. Jerseys are not sent home with the players 1 parent needs to take them home and wash and hang dry after each game. Jerseys are expensive, and they are sponsored by wonderful companies in the area that paid for them.

What to Bring

  1. Helmet
  2. Neck guard
  3. Shoulder pads
  4. Elbow pads
  5. Gloves
  6. Jock or Jill strap
  7. Pants
  8. shin guards
  9. Skates
  10. Practice jersey
  11. socks
  12. stick.

Please make sure skates are sharp for the first time on the ice.  It is really hard for kids just starting out to stay standing but skates that are not sharp make it even worse for them.

Fees

Important: $10 of the listed registration fee covers your FunTeam membership which is required to join a FunTeam group. Please submit all of your fees to your Group Manager in a timely fashion as it is required to complete the registration process.

  • Beginners  $250
  • Junior, Intermediate and Senior $300

Checks are made out to Rimbey Falcons, and e-transfers are to be sent to rimbeyfalcons@gmail.com

If sending an e-transfer, please put the player names and team so I can make sure payments match the right players.

Volunteering

FunTeam volunteers are our most valuable resource. We can’t thank you enough for your commitment to our programming and bringing our model of sport to your community.

We are always looking for volunteers to help us out!

All volunteer coaches must have a Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check that has been completed in the last three years. This must be submitted prior to going out on the ice with the players.

All volunteers must be registered through the FunTeam Alberta website.
