FunTeam Alberta promotes family oriented, low cost, and less competitive sport to be enjoyed by participants of all skill levels. We are an inclusive organization that encourage any activity to be FUN for the participants, parents, coaches, volunteers and the rest of the community!
At Mayerthorpe Fun Hockey, we believe in FUN above all else! Whether you're new to hockey or an experienced player, our goal is to foster skill development in a recreational, non-contact environment where everyone can enjoy the game!
Who Can Join?
We welcome players ages 5-17 (Co-Ed, Recreational, Non-Contact Hockey). Experience level doesn’t matter — whether you’ve never skated before or are looking to build your skills further, there’s a place for you! We also welcome volunteers to help make the season unforgettable.
All teams have 1 practice per week and 1 game on Saturdays.

One practice slot will be held for whichever team fills it first. Coaches and Rosters will be random, and we cannot make exceptions due to high registration volume.
Home Games are typically at the Sangudo Arena, but some home games may be played at the Mayerthorpe Arena depending on ice availability. Game times will vary between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. We try to keep travel within an hour’s drive of Mayerthorpe/Sangudo.
Special Notes:
Practices: No sessions on holidays or during Christmas break.
Cancellations: Bad weather may cancel games, and due to limited ice time, rescheduling may not be possible.
Tournament Fees: Mayerthorpe Fun Hockey will cover the cost of one tournament per team. Any additional tournaments will be covered by parents or sponsors.
Age Group Assignments: Age groups are assigned for the safety of players. Players may request to move up by emailing mayerthorpefunhockey@hotmail.com. Please register your child in their appropriate age group to start so all children are able to register in their applicable team slot to start.
Please note the season start is dependent on ice going in at the arena. We anticipate an end-of-September start, but the dates may change and will be communicated to all registered players before the season starts.
** If you cannot choose your age group, the team is full for the season. Please opt into the waitlist on the registration page for the applicable age group to help us determine opening up another team.

What to Bring
Hockey bag, water bottle, jock, shin guards, socks, practice jersey, sharpened skates, skate guards, hockey pants, neck guard, elbow pads, shoulder pads, gloves, helmet with full cage, and hockey stick. Goalie Equipment is provided for the Littles and the MJR or goalie can bring there own if preferred.
**Please label all your personal equipment**
Jersey Info: Littles will be given a jersey to return at the end of the season. Your first jersey is included in the registration fee for MJR, MSR, Bigs — this is a one-time inclusion. If a player's jersey needs to be replaced for any reason, the player will be responsible for covering the replacement cost.
Fees
Important: $10 of the listed registration fee covers your FunTeam membership which is required to join a FunTeam group. Please submit all of your fees to your Group Manager in a timely fashion as it is required to complete the registration process.

Volunteering
FunTeam volunteers are our most valuable resource. We can’t thank you enough for your commitment to our programming and bringing our model of sport to your community.
This role will be instrumental to our season. This position will be responsible for scheduling referees for all home games for all teams. A list of referees and all information for this role will be provided.
Volunteer Info: Coaches/Team Managers need a Vulnerable Sector Check, and must wear a helmet and skates when on the ice. Please opt in on the drop down for the position youre willing to volunteer for. If there is any questions email Mayerthorpefunhockey@hotmail.com
