FunTeam Alberta promotes family oriented, low cost, and less competitive sport to be enjoyed by participants of all skill levels. We are an inclusive organization that encourage any activity to be FUN for the participants, parents, coaches, volunteers and the rest of the community!
Welcome to Mannville FunSkate and Shinny! We are very excited to provide this skating opportunity once again for children, parents and community members of ALL ages. The goal of this program to allow participants to practice their skating skills in a fun, yet safe, and supportive supervised environment with a focus on cooperation and fair play.
FunSkate and Shinny are held every Friday that there is school scheduled. Unfortunately, at this time, non-school days means no FunSkate/Shinny unless more volunteers are registered.
FunSkate is from 3:30-4:30 pm. Participants of all ages are welcome to come and practice their skating and have fun. This is a free skate time, not instructed, but supervised. Balls, noodles, skating aids and music are provided to make this a fun filled skating experience for the whole family. Skaters under the age of six must be accompanied by a registered adult.
Shinny Hockey is from 4:30-5:30. During this time hockey sticks are allowed on the ice. If there are enough participants, two teams will be formed to play a scrimmage against each other on one half of the ice. On the other half of the ice, individuals are welcome to practice stick handling skills using additional nets and pylons, or remain free skating.
All participants on the ice must register as a FunTeam member. This is done online through this website. Payment will be collected by Mrs. Tara Tod.
ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST BE REGISTERED AND PAID BEFORE GOING ON THE ICE.
What to Bring
FunSkate: All participants must wear a certified hockey helmet and have skates. No bike helmets allowed.
Shinny: All participants must wear a certified hockey helmet. Youth helmets must have a face cage as well. Hockey gloves and a stick are also required in order to play in a scrimmage.
Skate Swap: Donated skates will be available to swap out from November 13- December 20. Feel free to bring your old skates to swap out for a bigger size. If it's your child's first pair, there are smaller sizes available.
Skate sharpening is the responsibility of the borrower. Helmets are not available to swap.
Fees
Important: $10 of the listed registration fee covers your FunTeam membership which is required to join a FunTeam group. Please submit all of your fees to your Group Manager in a timely fashion as it is required to complete the registration process.
There is only one fee of $10, which will allow members to participate in both the FunSkate and Shinny Hockey programs for the season.
The entire fee is submitted to FunTeam Alberta to provide insurance for all registered members and volunteers.

Volunteering
FunTeam volunteers are our most valuable resource. We can’t thank you enough for your commitment to our programming and bringing our model of sport to your community.
Volunteers are welcome and would be greatly appreciated!
Registered volunteers would be able to help supervise FunSkate/Shinny in the event Tara or Phillip Tod cannot. Extra volunteers would allow for FunSkate to occur on non school days as well, if requested.
All that is required to become a registered volunteer is an up to date criminal record check. These are free of charge and can be completed at the Vermilion RCMP detachment. A FunTeam letter is available to waive the fee for the record check if necessary.
