FunTeam Alberta promotes family oriented, low cost, and less competitive sport to be enjoyed by participants of all skill levels. We are an inclusive organization that encourage any activity to be FUN for the participants, parents, coaches, volunteers and the rest of the community!

Our goal is to make hockey accessible and affordable to our community. We will start up in November 2020 and end by the end of March 2021. There are neighbouring Fun Hockey groups that we can play games against throughout the season. Depending on the group, they will probably play a couple of games a month. Following a sports cohort model, we may only play 1 neighbouring Fun group a month. We are currently working on some fundraising models to help supplement some of the expenses for the upcoming season.

What to Bring

Skates and hockey equipment including a CSA approved helmet..

Fees

Important: $10 of the listed registration fee covers your FunTeam membership which is required to join a FunTeam group. Please submit all of your fees to your Group Manager in a timely fashion as it is required to complete the registration process.

$200 per player.

$50 for first time skaters.

Periodic fundraising is required. Possible kitchen shifts depending upon local restrictions.

Volunteering

FunTeam volunteers are our most valuable resource. We can’t thank you enough for your commitment to our programming and bringing our model of sport to your community.

The success of the program is dependant on our volunteers. We will require volunteer coaches for our teams. We will require people to referee games with our cohort teams. We will require participants to help fundraise at various points throughout the season. In the past we have offered a kitchen during home games, we may not be able to do that this season. If we are able to offer a kitchen, we will require volunteers to operate and a single person to order supplies/inventory for the kitchen. We will require volunteers to sharpen skates, as we own our own skate sharpener. We may require volunteers to assist with other things throughout the season.

FunTeam volunteers are our most valuable resource. We can’t thank you enough for your commitment to our programming and bringing our model of sport to Swan Hills.

There are neighbouring Fun Teams that we can play games with. As of now, it looks like we will play 1 other team in back to back games, followed by a 14 day break before playing a new neighbouring Fun Team. Practices will start after the ice is installed and end at some point before the end of March 2021.

Swan Hills Under 7 years
This group is for new skaters and players. Depending on the availability of the volunteer coaches, there will be up to 2 practices a week. There are neighbouring Fun Teams that have new skaters, games can be arranged with theses organizations after Christmas. Practices will start after the ice is installed and end at some point before the end of March 2021.
